Natural Treatment for Back Pain Relief



Natural treatment for back pain relief are effective for all types of backache and particularly, address the chronic pain better, occurring in the back without an identifiable reason. Chamomile possesses mild anti-inflammation properties which are helpful in calming tense tissues, muscles and ligaments, drinking chamomile tea or 2-3 drops of extract or 1-3 capsules for few days certainly calms the acute back pain. Teas of St. John’s wort, valerian and Jamaican dogwood are also effective in easing the backache.

Another very effective natural treatment for back pain relief is bromelain. It is in abundance in pineapple extract. During the pain, 2-3 gm of bromelain and 1-2 gm for few days when pain has eased away, gives immense relief to the pain. Horse tail is another herb with great curative properties for connective tissues, improving bowel system and alleviating backache. This herb can be taken internally in the form of tea as well as a supplement. Burdrock is also an effective pain reliever taken 10-25 drops in a cup of liquid for few days. Black or white mustard seed pack can be applied for relief however this should not be applied for more than ten minutes at one place.



Few spices used in our daily diet are effective natural treatment for backache relief. Cayenne pepper or popularly known as red pepper helps immensely in alleviating backache. The simplest way of using red pepper is to mix powder of red pepper in any cold cream to turn its color pink and apply with a gentle massage for relief. Mixture of cramp bark and black haw is one of the oldest natural treatments for backache relief. Equal quantities of black haw and cramp bark mixture, taken in 1-4 drops, after every three hours for few days helps in relieving the pain. Willow bark and mints like peppermint and spearmint are also helpful in treating back pain and also in preventing them.

Ginger has been used since ancient times in India and China for pain relief. One easy to make remedy is by cutting a thumb size ginger in thin slices and boiling it with water, later smear it for 30 min on a low flame. Strain it after cooling and drink half or one cup everyday mixing a teaspoon of honey in it. Epsom salt baths are also an effective natural treatment for back pain relief, as they supply good amount of magnesium which helps in alleviating arthritic and muscle pain, and can be absorbed by the skin.

Supportive diet and avoiding pro-inflammation substances in the diet is also a natural treatment for backache. Diets rich in friendly fats like omega-3 fatty acids and olive oil are helpful in relieving pain. Some sources of omega-3 fatty acids are pumpkin seed, walnut, canola oil, flax seeds and fresh water fish. Fresh leafy vegetables and fresh fruits are good source of carbohydrates and fiber. High fiber diet strengthens the muscles and promote ligament cure. Protein rich diet also helps in alleviating backache and avoiding foods low in fiber, high in saturated fats and sugar will help the body in treating the pain itself.
