The Haritaki fruits are the main ingredient used in the preparations of many ayurvedic medicinal formulations. The one major benefit of this substance is that it prohibits and eliminates the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi such as Escherichia Coli aka E. Coli. The diseases in which this herb is found useful are leucorrhoea, chronic ulcers, pyorrhea and various sorts of fungal infections on different parts of the skin. Castor oil is known to be effective in increasing the motility of the gastro intestinal tract; however the oil extracted and obtained through the kernel of the Haritaki plant is more efficient and beneficial for this purpose.
