Vaginal itching could be extremely embarrassing and irritating. It can suddenly show up while a woman is in public, is out with friends, and even when she is being intimate with someone. Sometimes this itching would accompany sores, bumps and redness around the itching area. It is mainly caused by yeast infection due to overgrowth of Candida Ablicans. A lot of women take temporary measures to overcome the itching, but it could only worsen the situation. You can have plenty of home remedies which would help you to overcome this issue without any trouble. Let's look at some of the natural remedies you can try at home.
Yogurt: It has live lactobacilli bacteria. So, you can use a yogurt tampon in your vaginal area. Take some unsweetened yogurt, dip the tampon in it, and apply in your intimate area. This method is really good, but your bed sheets could be dirty.
Tea Tree Oil: It is a very well known herb for its anti-bacterial properties. Take a tampon, cover the top half with a lubricant, and then add few drops of tea tree oil onto it. Keep this tampon in your vagina for a couple of hours. Lubricant is used so that the tea tree oil won't seep into the tampon. However, ready made tea tree oil pessaries would be available in the market. Also, try to take a warm bath with 10-12 drops of tea tree oil in it.
Garlic: It also has anti-bacterial properties. Peel the whole garlic; make a few tiny cuts on it. Then keep it inside a gauze or cheesecloth, and keep it in your vagina for couple of hours.
Apple cider vinegar: you can take sitz bath with this to heal the itching. Take one cup of apple cider vinegar; add this to hip-deep warm water in your bath tub. Then sit in your bath tub, spreading your legs, until the water has cooled. The acidic property of vinegar will help to neutralize the alkaline condition that causes the itching.
Aloe Vera: It has anti-inflammatory properties, which helps healing. Its cooling property could also be useful in dealing with the itching. You may apply fresh aloe vera juice in the affected area. However, watch out for allergic reaction. Stop using it in case it happens.
You could also try drinking certain herbal concoctions. Also, try to drink few glasses of butter milk daily. Herbs like grapefruit seed extract, olive leaves extract, and slippery elm extracts could be effective in reducing the itching.
In extreme cases with severe itching, an herbal douche could be the best option. Take a quart of warm water; mix together 1 tablespoon each of these herbs into it, raspberry leaf, sage, and mullien extracts-with quarter of a tablespoon of goldenseal. Make a tea with this combination and strain the herbs from the water and cool down. Now, add a quarter cup of yogurt to this, and finally add few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar as well. Apply this mixture as a douche. This herbal remedy could be very useful when it comes to severe itching.
