Home Remedies for Urticaria, Herbal Treatment



Home remedies for urticaria provide relief, cure and prevention effectively than other medications. Red or white rashes on any part of skin with severe itching and aggravates on scratching is identified as urticaria. Generally lot of exposure to cold environment, toxic food, side effect of any drug, skin infection or even emotional stress can cause this problem.

Identification of triggering factors also work as effective home remedies for urticaria, many a time just minor changes avoid the occurrence of uritaria. Tinned and packed foods, synthetic clothes especially when wore close to the body, stress and exposure to cold and warm environment or using artificial coloring agents in the food may cause urticaria. Just identification and avoiding these triggers can cure the problem.

Mixture of aloe vera and ochre, in equal quantities, and rubbed at the weals works as home remedy for urticaria. 35 ml of rose water and 25 ml of vinegar mixed together and applied at the affected area gives instant relief from urticaria. Mint also treats this well, taking 7 gm of mint and 25 gm of brown sugar boiled with 175 ml of water makes an effective decoction for the treatment of urticaria.

Turmeric is also an effective home remedy for urticaria. Two teaspoon of turmeric consumed with warm water daily or use of turmeric in the diet also, avoids occurrence of urticaria. In some cases it has been noted that it strikes while sleeping, if this is the case then taking two teaspoon of turmeric with warm cup of milk before going to bed will immediately help in curing the problem.



Calamine lotion easily available in the market is also an effective home remedy for urticaria. Calamine has curative properties for many skin problems and help skin to nourish itself, use of this lotion at the affected parts helps in alleviating the itching and its reoccurrence. Milk of magnesia is another alkaline solution which alleviates the itchiness caused due to this.

Drinking herbal teas like that of chamomile, valerian and catnip leaves also helps in treating this problem. Tea of passion flowers or peppermint is also a good herbal treatment for urticaria. Nettle leaves tea mixed with honey or lemon juice also helps in improving from urticaria. One gram of rauwolfia root powder with water daily is also a good treatment. Drinking one glass of cold milk everyday helps in keeping the acid levels of the stomach at low and cures urticaria.

Epsom salt baths are also an effective home remedy for urticaria. Epsom salt bath for 20-25 minutes regularly, without using soap for maximum benefit, treats urticaria very well. Taking sun bath also cures urticaria. Bathing in a tub of water with half cup of corn starch and half cup of baking soda mixed in it also helps in curing the problem. Exposure to the cold environment immediately after any of these baths shall be avoided. Cold and hot water compresses also help in improving urticaria.

Consuming zinc, cayenne pepper in capsule form, vitamin A, C, and E orally also helps in curing the problem of urticaria. Foods like eggs, tomatoes, nuts, peanuts, shellfish, chocolates, soy products, cucumber and strawberries shall be avoided for the occurrence of this problem. Drinking 8-10 glass of water and lemon juice in good quantity helps the body in fighting urticaria.
