Home Remedies for Tinnitus, Ringing in the Ears



Tinnitus is a condition in which buzzing or hissing sounds are heard by a person, without presence of any external source of sound. The noise can be heard in any of the ears and even in both the ears at same time. In medical terminology, tinnitus can be defined as "ringing in the ears". It is not so common among the young generation but affects about 34% of the aged population, all over the world. Tinnitus is not a disease, but is a symptom of an underlying condition.

We can apply some of the home remedies in order to control the generation of any disturbing sound, due to tinnitus. Intense sounds can excel the tinnitus problem. So it is better to avoid areas with loud noises and under unavoidable circumstances, try to use ear plugs. Insertion of about 22-25 mg of maidenhair extract, into the ears, can provide a sense of relief from tinnitus.

Taking of antioxidants, such as coenzyme Q10, is also an effective remedy for problems relating to tinnitus as it enhances the circulation process in the ears and thus provide immunity. The diet is a crucial factor in retarding the effects of tinnitus. Try to eat a healthy and balanced diet and avoid the intake of spices. Consumption of salt, sugar and saturated fats should be reduced. Coffee and tea increases the pain in the ears. So try to neglect them as much as possible. Eat leafy vegetables and other nutritious food items in order to upgrade the immune system of the body.



Intake of fruits, mainly pineapple, reduces the inflammation relating problems in the ears and thus helps in curing of tinnitus. Exercise is another procedure that can be followed. A fit body has higher rate of blood circulation in the body and thus reducing pressures at various body parts, including ears. As a result, occurrence of tinnitus is sustained.

Yoga can be an efficient solution to the tinnitus problem. Only those medicines should be taken that are purely prescribed by the doctors as some of the drugs absorption, augments the noise levels in the ears. Taking of hot and cold foot baths, one by one, is also one of the remedies for tinnitus.

Combine a solution of a teaspoon of salt with a teaspoon of glycerin, into a pint of warm water. Induce this solution into a nasal spray bottle and spar it into the nostrils, three times a day, until the solution drains into the back of the throat. This is one of the emphatic ways to treat tinnitus with an ease. Bayberry bark and hawthorn leaf purifies the blood and counters against the infections. Burdock roots are also useful against tinnitus.

It has to be kept in the mind that tinnitus not only distorts the sleep of an individual, but also affects the concentration level of the respective. So it is advisable to work out tinnitus with some of the above mentioned home remedies. If the desired result is not obtained then an individual should consult a specialist.
