Home Remedies for Thrush, Natural Treatment



Thrush is a painful and uncomfortable state (basically affects the mouth region) caused by Candida. This is a yeast infection that manifest in the mouth. Thrush is caused due to higher consumption of sugar in the diet, chemotherapy, radiation therapy or compromised immune system. Thrush may also affect newborns if the mother is suffering from the same infection during pregnancy condition. So, it can be contagious too and at the same time provides discomfort to adults (including both, male and female). It appears as a white coat onto the tongue.

Due to the discomfort conditions endured by the thrush, it is important to cure it and that also, well in time. For this purpose, there are some home remedies that can be used to workout the thrush related problems. Try to have a good oral habit by brushing each day and at least two times a day. This would prevent the congestion of Candida.

Thrush infection is a fungal infection, so, in order to treat it, the solution has to be antifungal in nature. A mouthwash with a mixture of lukewarm water and a pinch of salt and cider vinegar can be implemented and gargle the throat area. This provides the required antifungal effect and thus helps in fighting the thrush related problems. Besides, a tincture consisting of myrrh, licorice and echinacea can also be used as a mouthwash. It is a good home remedy for thrush.

Garlic has a very effective outcome against thrush, alongside onion. Garlic is a great antifungal source while onion is essential in restoring the white coating. So, try to include both, garlic and onion, in your daily diet. The top of the throat has to be cleaned of smoothly by using special brushes. Tongue should also be wiped of properly as well.



In order to rapid up the thrush treatment, it is a must for an affected individual to reduce the level of sugar consumption. Instead, go for a high nutritious diet with rich protein content. Newborns can be easily affected with thrush through the process of breastfeeding. Thus, it is vital for a mother to maintain excessive care and if she finds out that her nipples are insensitive and red, she must prevent breastfeeding.

The consumption of yogurt can also be used as a home remedy for treating thrush. The yoghurt should be swirled around the mouth and after doing so, neglect the intake of anything for a short while as this would increase the growth of healthy bacteria acidophilus. This bacterium helps in the treatment of the yeast infection. If the suffering individual wears dentures, then the dentures need to be cleaned every night before going to sleep. It should be soaked in a clean solution and properly rinsed before placing it again in the mouth.

This infection requires to be treated well in time. So, an individual should try to follow the various measures for the treatment of the thrush. And if a person is not able to get the desired outcome, he or she should consult a practitioner.
