Home remedies for solar lentigo are effective in reducing their appearance if not completely curing them. Solar lentigo also known as liver spots, sun spots, age spots, lentigos or senile lentigines occur usually in an area exposed to the sun. Basically they are caused due to ultraviolet rays and skin, due to ageing, unable to cure them. Liver spots have got nothing to do with the liver.
Home remedies for solar lentigo are basically skin nourishment treatments which help the body in removing the pigmentation or dead cells accumulated at a particular area, and few small dots like spots, together forming a big evident black, brown or red spot. Aloe vera juice from the plant has healing properties and rubbing aloe vera juice or gel on the spots can help in fading them away.
Few other fresh fruit juices are also good home remedies for solar lentigo like orange and lemon juice. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and can be applied directly at the age spots, this should be allowed to dry before exposing it to the sun. Similarly, orange juice can also be applied at the age spots like lemon juice. Mixing any of these juices with little beaten yoghurt and applying at the affected area helps in fading the spots quickly.
Herbs also help in curing the age spots or solar lentigo. Bilberry herb slows down the ageing process of the skin and works as a good anti-oxidants. 4-8 oz of fresh berries and 80-160 gm of bilberry extract, consumed daily helps in curing and fading of solar lentigo. Rubbing the sap of dandelion stem 2-3 times in a day for few weeks fades the spots quickly.
Gotu kola is another herb which forms a very effective home remedy for solar lentigo. 1/8 teaspoon of gota kolu similar quantity of ginseng and a pinch of cayenne mixed with warm water and consumed for few weeks helps in fading the marks of solar lentigo very quickly.
Fenugreek seeds are also an effective home remedy for solar lentigo. Fenugreek seeds boiled with a glass of water for few minutes and then washing the affected area with this solution after cooling it, helps immensely in improving the marks of solar lentigo.
Gently massaging the scars with water and baking soda is also an effective home remedy for solar lentigo. Another way of using this remedy is, first rub the scars with baking soda for two minutes and then rinse them with warm water later apply olive oil for skin nourishment. This treatment shall be repeated twice in a day.
Applying vitamin E directly on the skin for three times in a day is also a helpful treatment.
Applying paste of ripe banana and letting it dry for few minutes and later washing it with warm water also helps in fading solar lentigo quickly.
Rubbing castor oil on the affected area in the morning and evening is a very good home remedy for solar lentigo.
One teaspoon of grated horseradish root, half teaspoon of lemon juice, half teaspoon of vinegar and few drops of rosemary essential oil, dabbing this mixture on the scars with the help of a cotton ball removes the marks very quickly.
