Oral thrush is a discomfort and painful state in the mouth caused due to overgrowth of Candida because of higher intake of sugar in the diet, chemotherapy, compromised immune system or radiation therapy. This is a yeast infection that may also affect infants if the mother is suffering from this infection during pregnancy. Yogurt consumption can be an effective home remedy against oral thrush. Swish the yoghurt around the mouth and afterwards, avoid the intake of anything for a short duration of time. This would help in the growth of healthy bacteria acidophilus in the mouth region. Acidophilus helps in fighting against the yeast infection. Also, try to maintain a good oral habit by brushing, at least twice a day. This would disallow the congestion of Candida in the mouth. In order to speed up the oral thrush curing it is recommended to reduce the level of sugar in the body.
One should go for a high fiber diet with rich protein content. Newborns can be affected with oral thrush through breastfeeding process. Thus, the mother needs to take an extra care and if she finds her nipple to be red and insensitive, then she must avoid breastfeeding. Also, try to wash the accessories of the infant with warm water, on regular basis. If an individual suffering from oral thrush, wear dentures, but remember that these dentures needs to be cleaned every night. Dentures should be soaked in a clean solution overnight and should be rinsed properly before placing it in the mouth.
