Home Remedies for Melasma, Natural Treatment



Melasma is also known as pregnancy mask or chloasma. The color of the skin (mainly face) becomes discolored due to exposure to the sunlight. The motherhood brings enormous happiness in one's life but also brings some complications along it. Melasma is one of them. The skin becomes dark and blemishes occur on it. Melasma generates due to hormonal changes in the body. Although it is more common in women, but men can also be affected by Melasma as it is also caused due to hormonal changes.

There are no direct preventions that can be followed to cure the problems related to Melasma. But there are some home remedies present that can help in diluting and disguising the impact of Melasma. Try to cover up the dark portion of the skin with help of some natural make up. Melasma mainly affects upper lips; forehead and nose, so disguise the area with the make up until the skin renormalize the complexion. At some instances, discolor of the skin may be due to over use of oral contraceptives. So it is better to restrict the use of such contraceptives and relate towards other means of preventions.

Certain medicines are very sensitive towards the sun exposure. Consumption of such medicines enhances the impact of Melasma. So, one should either go for an home remedies that is insensitive towards light or one should try to protect oneself from the direct exposure of the sunlight. Melasma may also be caused due to dehydration. So, one should drink plenty of water and try to keep the body hydrated and moisturized. Try to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day.



Melasma can also be treated with an ease by performing exercises on regular basis. Exercise helps in maintaining the physical fitness and also triggers up the blood circulation into the body. This is very effective home remedy against Melasma. Yoga can also be helpful in such scenarios. Bad hygiene is yet another field that can cause Melasma. So a proper hygiene environment should be provided especially to females. Try to wash the face twice or even thrice a day and keep it as clean as possible.

Cocoa butter is the well known herbal remedy that is very emphatic against Melasma. It not only helps against the discoloring problems, but also helps in removing the stretch marks that is caused during pregnancy period. Olive oil can be used to rehydrate the skin so that it can regain its normal texture. This is an efficient home remedy for the treatment of Melasma.

Onion juice is also useful home remedy for Melasma. Prepare the onion juice by blending onion with cider vinegar and apply on the face and other affected area. Lemon juice can also be used in place of onion juice. It helps in fading up the dark spots raised due to Melasma. Also, try to rinse the face with a mixture of vinegar and water as it will help in brightening the dark spots and make the skin smoother.
