Home Remedies for Heartburn, Natural Treatment



Heartburn or hyper acidity or acid reflux is a very common ailment and home remedies for heartburn provide complete cure and relief from this problem. This problem should not be left untreated as in the long run it may even cause something as serious as blocking or narrowing of esophagus.

Generally, untimely eating habits, lesser sleep, eating spicy and greasy food, smoking and indigestion give rise to heartburn. It is due to any of these reasons can be treated by resolving the cause. Avoid smoking during meals strictly.

Ginger is an old and trusted home remedy for heartburn. Consuming ginger in the diet, using it as a spice or taking 2-3 cups of tea made by mixing some ginger root, in a day, surely alleviates the problem. Ginger can also be consumed in the capsule form in the quantity of 500 mg per day.

Green teas or herbal teas are also very useful home remedies for heartburn. Peppermint, chamomile, licorice root, ginger and catnip tea are very effective in improving from heartburn. One cup of any of these teas after dinner everyday can treat the problem very well.

Water is also very effective in treating this problem and it can cure this ailment naturally. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water everyday will surely help in heartburn and is good for overall health. Avoiding drinking water during the meals and drinking it at least half an hour, before or after the meal, is a very good practice.



Holy basil leaves are an effective home remedy for heartburn. Using holy basil leaves in the diet or chewing 2-3 leaves of it during heartburn gives immediate relief. Aloe vera juice also helps in curing the problem of digestive tract and esophagus. Papaya contains lots of digestive enzymes and work as a good home remedy for heartburn. Drinking 1-2 glasses of papaya juice in a day or chewing papaya enzyme tablets surely helps in improving from this problem.

Drinking a glass of chilled milk relieves immediately from this problem. Another very effective home remedy for heartburn is the mixture of any fruit juice with a potato. Take one potato do not peel it, put it in the juicer with any fruit juice and let it crush with juice, and drink it immediately after it has mixed completely with the fruit juice. This remedy is very effective in treating heartburn. Chewing and sucking the juice of a small piece of jaggery after the meal is a good practice however it is not recommendable to the people having tendency or history of diabetes. Chewing few almonds also helps in curing heartburn.

Dietary discipline shall be followed strictly to alleviate this problem, it works as the most effective home remedy for heartburn. Avoid garlic, onion, pepper, cabbage, radish in the food and any type of unripe fruits. Eating green leafy vegetables, fruits like apple, watermelon and banana are very helpful in curing heartburn.

Eating with right kind of posture is also very important and chewing the food well before swallowing it helps in proper digestion of food and avoiding heartburn. Taking a slow and small walk right after every meal is very beneficial for treating and avoiding heartburn.
