Home Remedies for Fever Blisters, Natural Treatment

Home remedies for fever blisters provide effective solution to the problem, these remedies can cure, prevent and can avoid them from spreading. Fever blisters are caused by herpes simplex virus and are highly contagious. Usually they occur near mouth, nostrils, genitals and fingers. After few days these blisters start oozing and form a hard crust.

Applying cornstarch paste on the blister is an effective home remedy for fever blisters as it helps in drying out the liquid as well as stops the spreading of the infection. Two or three drops of grape fruit seed extract mixed with aloe or olive oil and applied topically on the affected area also treats the infection effectively. Application of extract of mint on the blisters is also very useful, in curing the infection.

Black coffee also treats the virus causing fever blisters with good effect. Drinking sugar free black coffee and applying the remaining part of the coffee topically on the blisters can cure the infection. Baking soda, is another very simple home remedy for fever blisters, it should be applied topically on the blister for at least few days to cure the infection. Mixture of bergamot oil and eucalyptus oil applied as a mask on the blisters also treat this disease well.

Rubbing aloe vera gel and washing the blisters with witch hazel also treats the problem well. Mix 25 gm each of dried mullein, mallow root and marsh mallow root in three liter of water and stir it for 15 minutes. Later apply compression on the blisters with a cloth soaked in this water. It provides immediate relief from the pain and cures the infection. Compressions with grated carrot wrapped in a cloth, also helps in alleviating the pain and irritation caused by fever blisters.

Application of lemon balm or st. john's wort on the blisters also helps in treating the infection. Olive oil is a simple and effective home remedy for fever blisters. Olive oil can be applied directly on the blisters as well as it can be applied by mixing and later heating it with bee wax and lavender oil to form a paste and applied as a coat on the blisters. This application reduces pain and cures the infection.

Another trusted home remedy for fever blisters is a mixture made by mixing 100 ml of coconut oil and 2 ml of any easily available antiseptic liquid and 3 ml of tea tree oil. This mixture shall be stored and used for washing the blisters twice in a day. This works as a very effective remedy.

Rubbing the blisters with ice for few minutes, at least 5-6 times after every 10 minutes, makes the virus inactive. Warm tea bags can also be applied on the blisters for at least 20-30 minutes, for few times in a day, this simple remedy can cure the infection in less than a week.

Consuming B complex supplements with vitamin B 12 and folic acid is also a useful home remedy for fever blisters. Avoiding acidic, salty and foods high in arginine will be good for treating the problem. The blisters shall not be touched or scratched to stop the infection from spreading to other parts of the body.
