Home Remedies for Cracked Heels, Natural Treatments



Cracked heels are a common problem during winter season. The dry weather conditions may attribute to this painful condition. The skin on the bottom of our feet is thicker. This skin is naturally prone to cracks, and few conditions can easily lead to cracked heels.

People with dry skin are especially prone to cracked heels. Continuous pressure on your feet may lead to cracked heels. Those who stand for a longer while are vulnerable to this condition. Over weight people are also prone to this, considering the fact that they may apply more pressure on their feet. So, make sure that you don't stand for too long if you have cracked heels. Moreover, reduce your body weight in case cracked heels give much pain and discomfort.

Coconut oil is an excellent home remedy for cracked heels. Apply coconut oil in the affected areas and make this a daily routine so that your skin will always remain soft and smooth. The moisturizing property of your skin can be brought back with coconut oil. Moreover, coconut oil is the best remedy one can ever suggest for cracked heels.

You also need to make sure that you are well hydrated to avoid cracked heels. You can use a salt scrub to scrub off the dry skin. This process will remove the dead cells and bring the soft skin to the front. After this, apply some coconut oil on your heels and wear cotton socks. Do this daily before you go to bed, and in the morning, you will find your feet well moisturized and smooth.



Next, apply a ripe banana on the affected area. Keep it there for 10 minutes, and then wash it. This home remedy is considered to be a good pain reliever as well.

Another good home remedy for cracked heels, soak your feet in lemon juice. Lemon juice has the ability to heal the cracked heels. Try this regularly, this should give good results. Make sure that you dip your feet in the juice for at least 10 minutes.

Also, apply a mixture of rose water and glycerin in the affected area. This herbal remedy may give instant results. Get a foot massage once in a while, as this must be really beneficial.

You could also be little careful with your footwear. As, soled shoes and open back shoes aggravate the problem. So, it is advised not to use them at all if you have cracked heels.

Don't ever use razor, scissors or blade to cut the fissures. It may lead to injury and the problem may worsen. Pumice stone bars are the best tool to remove the dead skin. One word for diabetic patients, you should consult a doctor immediately if the problem persists for too long or when you have color change or injury. In case of diabetic patients, this may lead to more serious troubles, so don't hesitate to get a doctor's help at the right time.
