Eat healthy foods rich in calcium and vitamins such as eggs, milk, fish and Indian gooseberry (amla). Include raw vegetables, carrot, radish, cabbage, tomato, cucumber, cauliflower, banana and fruits in your diet. Do not eat spicy, fried, fatty foods, condiments, curd, sugar, tea, coffee, fast and dairy foods and smoking.
Do not eat vegetables and fruits that are vata producing. Chyawanprash, an ayurvedic preparation is an herbal tonic with multiple health benefits and contains minerals, vitamin C and nutrients. Take daily one to two teaspoon with warm milk.
Soak 50 to 60 grams of wheat in water overnight. In the morning, along with the wheat add 30 grams poppy seed (khas khas) grass and 30 grams coriander (dhania). Prepare a paste of these ingredients. Boil this paste in 250 grams milk and when two-third is left, eat this recipe. This is a useful home remedy for back pain. It relieves pain, improves digestive system and strengthen of the body.
Drink only warm water. If you want to drink cold water then in boiling water, put 4 to 5 leaves of holy basil or one greater cardamom or two lesser cardamoms. Allow it to cool and then drink. You can add honey in warm water before drinking.
To prevent back pain and other vata diseases, have oil massage of the entire body. This develops the capacity to tolerate fatigue. Oil massage should be done at least four to five times in a month. You may also apply heat with hot water bottle or infrared lamp for pain relief.
Mix and powder equal quantities of poppy seed (khas khas) grass and sugar candy. Take in the dose of 6 grams daily in the morning and evening with milk as a home remedy for backache. Regular massage with turpentine oil gives relief from the pain and discomfort. Avoid eating rice, kidney beans, black gram, pulses and refined products.
