Influenza A (H1N1) Swine Flu Symptoms and Treatment

Swine flu is declared to be a worldwide epidemic by WHO. It was basically found in pigs. It is a respiratory illness. It is caused by a virus called H1N1 influenza. For the first time it had infected the humans in Mexico. The virus 'H1N1 influenza' has the tendency to transfer from human to human. Like any other flu illness, swine flu is transmitted by touching infected objects, kissing, sneezing, coughing and touching nose, mouth and eyes with infected hands.

Some of the symptoms of swine flu are - Lack of appetite, fever, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, headache, coughing, lethargy and muscle ache. The symptoms of swine flu are not different from the regular influenza. There is a variation in the symptoms from person to person who get infected from it. If anyone is suffering from fever, sore throat, dry cough and muscle ache it is said that he or she is suffering from a general flu. If he is suffering from more diarrhea and vomiting then it is suspected that a person is infected by swine flu. Swine flu should not be treated as a general flu. It should be treated as serious as pneumonia. Sometimes even fatal respiratory failure can also occur due to swine influenza. Nowadays people all around the world fears by its name only.

For the treatment of swine flu use of antiviral medications are necessary. As soon as the infection is detected, antiviral medication can be used after consulting to an expert or doctor. This antiviral medication slows down the speed of flu virus if it is taken just after exposure that is within 48 hours. If anyone is having the symptoms of this flu and he is living in the swine flu area he or she may contact to doctor immediately. Don't leave the symptoms to become chronic. Vaccine for the swine flu in pig is available but vaccine for the swine influenza in human are still under process.

If a person infected from swine flu infection contacts a doctor, he advice the person to take a lot of preventive measures such as to avoid large gathering, use of masks, use of tissue paper while sneezing or coughing and many more. The doctor asks him to give respiratory sample collection for further test just after 4 days of illness. For further laboratory analysis and confirmation, the sample is sent to CDC. For the treatment and prevention of swine flu CDC immediately recommend the use of proper medicines.
