Home Remedies for Ringworm



Home remedies for ringworm are an effective alternate treatment. Ringworm is a fungal infection best caused at warm and moist skin. It is contagious infection and can be transferred by direct skin touch, use of comb or unwashed clothes etc. It is necessary to avoid touching pets during the infection as it can spread from humans to animals and vice versa.

There are many effective home remedies for ringworm to cure the infection and prevent it. Keeping cleanliness is primary home remedy for ringworm, taking a proper bath and cleaning areas like nails and hair can prevent the infection. Unwashed clothes, towels and combs shall not be shared. Regular washing of hands is helpful in killing or preventing the infection.

There are many herbal remedies used as home remedies for ringworm. A paste prepared from the juice of butea leaves and lemon juice shall be applied at the affected area for soothing the itching and curing the infection. Applying juice of holy basil leaves is also an effective home remedy for ringworm. The paste of cassia tree leaves can be applied at the affected area for killing the infection. Apart from these herbs there are other herbs like extract of walnut leaves and applying paste of pau d'arco, south-American herb, and tea tree oil also has quinine compounds helpful in killing fungal and bacterial infection.

Natural sources used daily also provide with many home remedies for ringworm. Raw papaya in small slices or paste of dried papaya applied at the affected area cure the infection. Paste of mustard seeds applied after washing the affected area with hot water can cure the infection. Juice of raw turmeric applied at the patch and consuming one tea spoon of turmeric with honey is another remedy for ringworm.



Mudpacks are also effective in curing ringworm applied at the area for half an hour twice everyday. Ringworm on the scalp is most irritating and can be embarrassing at public places. Application of castor oil helps in soothing the itching and fighting infection. It is also very helpful in reducing the swelling of the skin at the affected area. Coconut oil is very helpful in relieving the itching arising due to ringworm.

Sunbathing with the first sunlight in the morning is also helpful in treating ringworm infection. Washing the affected area twice or thrice everyday and later dried completely also helps the natural immunity system of the body to cure the infection. Anti-fungal cream can be applied at the area regularly after washing it thoroughly.

Avoid foods like tea, coffee, white flour, high flavor dishes, sugar, condiments and over processed food. Intake of fresh fruits like pomegranates, papaya, pineapples and oranges are good for skin and helps in curing the infection.

Drinking carrot juice with spinach is another old home remedy for ringworm, regular intake of this juice helps the skin in preventing and curing the infection.

Restricting the infection to a limited area is half of all the remedies. Do not touch the affected area regularly as it may lead the infection to wider area of the body. Wear loose clothes to avoid the contact of the infected area with clothes. Keeping the infected area covered with an anti septic cream help in protecting the infection from spreading.
