Home Remedies for Jetlag, Natural Treatment

Jetlag refers to irritability and insomniac condition that some people experience after and during the air travel. Jetlag can also be termed as desynchronosis. It basically occurs when the inner clock of the body is not properly synchronized with the time cue provided by the external environment and thus causes disorientation problems. Time cue includes meal hour and the cycles of rest and other activities. Because of this mismatch, an individual may suffer from fatigue, dehydration, broken sleep, discomfort between legs and fuzziness.

Jetlag affects the day to day working of an individual. So, it is better to cure this problem as soon as possible. For this purpose, there are certain home remedies that can be followed. It is a fact that when a person travels to a higher altitude, the water content inside him, starts to decrease because of lower humidity. So, it is better that the person drink enough water before commencing his travel by air. This will be beneficiary against problems related to jetlag.

Diet plays an important role in the treatment of jetlag. It is advisable to go for a heavy meal, rich in protein content, couple of days before the travel has to be done. This will help in building up the tenacity of the body. Also, there is high probability of the depletion of free radicals, during the air travel. In order to maintain their level in the body, you should go for the diet that is rich in vitamin A, C and E. Also, one should try to avoid over eating before the commencement of the travel. Ignorance of this will result in jetlag related problems such as indigestion, vomiting and irritation.

Massaging can also be an effective home remedy for the treatment of jetlag. Relaxing the body through massage therapy helps against fatigue. A mixture of sandalwood oil along with coconut oil should be used for massaging and is one of the emphatic solutions against jetlag. The aroma of the oil conserves the freshness of the body and thus, body is able to cope up with the external environment, in a better way.

You should avoid the intake of alcohol and caffeine as this will retard the metabolic activities in the body and will land an extra support to the problems that are caused by jetlag. Also, you should add few drops of rosemary into the water and drink it. This is an efficient solution for the problems related to jetlag.

Another effective home remedy for jetlag that can be used is taking an Epsom bath. Also, it is better to remain active through the entire travel and one should avoid long hours of sitting postures (if the travel duration is too long). This will cramp up the muscles of the body. Try to stretch the body, if possible, during the travel. To conclude up the proceedings, a proper sleep before the travel is helpful against jetlag. Adequate sleeping not only relaxes the body but also helps against irritation and fuzziness.
