Sore Nipples Home Remedies and Natural Treatments

But as a result of feeding process, some may face the problem of sore nipples.

Sore nipple is a state in which the mother faces lots of pain and discomfort. Nipples become hard and also show the sign of swelling. Fungal infection may be another reason for sore nipples. The pain may remain during the feeding process and sometimes even after it. Sore nipples are basically caused due to the wrong positioning of the child during feeding or due to suckling problem faced by the infant.

There are certain home remedies that can be used in order to overcome this problem. Breast milk can itself provide the desired solution. Apply the milk on to the nipples and let it dry and expose it to the air. Drying can be also done with a help of a hair dryer, maintained at low temperature. The soreness can also be treated by applying warm tea bags on to the nipples. It is one of the most effective methods as it subsidizes the pain. Try to avoid the application of soaps onto the breast. Soak the nipples into a solution of salt and water for at least 15 to 20 minutes. This will sustain the pain and swelling problems.

Massaging the lump on the breast during and after feeding can also help a bit. Before nursing, try to apply cool compress to the nipples. A cool compress is basically a piece of cloth, dipped in cold water. Also try to change the sides during feeding which can prevent the pressure on the same side. Try to implement hot water towel on to the area for few minutes before the feeding process.

Steaming a handful of comfrey leaves and wrapping it in gauze and applying it to the breast can also be a remedy for sore nipples. Besides, alluding alcohol to the nipples can provide the desired restrain form the pain due to soreness. Adequate rest is required as well. Try to have alfalfa as this increase the quantity of the mother's milk. One must have enough fluids as possible. Dandelion herb can also be to overcome the problem relating soreness.
