Home Remedies for Ear Wax Removal, Natural Treatment

Ear wax (cerumen) protects and makes our inner ear moist. Some health experts suggest that the safest way to remove ear wax is not to remove it at all. But some people may find this waxy substance irritating. Using a cotton swab to remove it from the canal can lead to severe complications such as puncturing of the eardrum. Ear wax is made up of a sticky fluid. While it is a natural protection for the ear, at times it flows out of the ears and causes several problems.

Symptoms

When we have an itching ear our natural reflex starts searching for something that just about fits in our ear and give it a good scratch.

Natural Home Remedies for Ear Wax Removal

Generally, we make use of an ear bud or the blunt end of something that fits the aperture of the ear to pull out the wax. These are very risky measures for wax removal. In case if we damage our ear then we may require a surgery. Thus, for the removal of ear wax safely, there are some home remedies that can be implemented.

For removing ear wax safely, expert's recommends using of warmed oils such as mineral oil, olive oil or baby oils to abate the cerumen. A few drops of warm oil should be applied carefully into the ear canal as the patient lies on a particular side. The oil is held back into the ears for some specific time, until the wax starts to melt. Now remove the wax after the oil has performed the operation of melting. Warm water can be used for removing the remains of the wax from the ear, but hot water should be avoided.

The use of paraffin has been most effective and popular home remedy for ear wax removal. Ideally as is with most home remedies, one should get immediate results. Another home remedy that can be applied for the removal of ear wax is the use of hydrogen peroxide. Apply 3 to 4 drops of hydrogen peroxide into the ears, for 3 to 4 days. This will help in the clearance of wax in a gentle way. Also, a mixture of water and vinegar is fruitful against cerumen removal. This mixture helps in fighting against the infection in the ears.

Another safe remedy that can be applied is to use the ear drops. Such drops formulate the ear to alleviate the wax. These ear drops are easily available in the pharmacy store. Follow the instruction as stated on the package. In general, a solution is dropped into the canal of the ears that adulterates the cerumen that is present in excess. Afterwards, the solution is allowed to flow out of the ear. Some other items that can be used for ear wax removal includes rubberized bulb.

However, it is advisable to visit an expert in the case you feel that it can be safer to get medical advice and treatment before attempting any home remedy.
