Home Remedy for Dry Hair

A person is prone to dry hair when they treat their hair harshly. Harsh treatment is like perming or straightening too much; shampooing to many times with the wrong type of shampoo; exposing to harsh chemicals like chlorine in swimming pools; exposing to the sun for long periods without shade; and finally using blow driers and curling irons too often.

Learn to love your natural hair whether it's straight or curly. Both can look beautiful if they are healthy and are well-styled. Buy a shampoo for dry hair so that you can add moisture to it. Wear a swimming cap if you want to swim in the chlorinated public pools. Use an umbrella or wear a cap to protect them, if you're going to be out for a long time under the sun.

The best home remedy for dry hair is oiling. You can use warm coconut, almond or castor oil, although this last oil is a bit thick and needs getting used to. Massage the hot oil onto the scalp, and also rub it onto the hair. To condition extremely dry hair, you can dip a towel in very hot water, wring it dry and place it around your hair. Keep replacing the hot towel, when it becomes cool. This hot treatment will allow the oil to penetrate into the scalp and shaft. You can also leave it overnight so that the oil can penetrate deeply. Use a shower cap and wrap a towel around so that it'll resemble a mini sauna, and will be slightly warm. After the hot treatment or the next morning, wash off with a shampoo. Do this a few times a week if you've really dry and damaged hair. Later when your hair returns to normal, just use once a week to maintain your healthy hair.

Another good home remedy for dry hair is using the yolk of egg. Beat the yolk of an egg, and apply. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and wash off with warm water. You can leave after rinsing, as it is. If you're like most people, who cannot stand the egg smell, just wash it off with a mild shampoo.

Another good home remedy for dry hair that is like a double whammy is to use mayonnaise. Take some mayonnaise and apply it all over your dry hair. You can give hot treatment with hot towels. Wait for an hour or so and wash it with some mild shampoo. Mayonnaise is a mixture of egg and oil. It has the conditioning and nourishing quality of eggs and the moisturizing quality of oil.

After shampooing each time, add apple cider vinegar to the last rinse and it'll leave your hair nice and shiny. This will only happen if you've already had a hot oil or hot mayonnaise treatment.

If you follow the a home remedy for at least a month or two, your dry hair will soon healthy, and will have a nice luster and sheen to it.
