Home Remedies for Blemishes

Teenagers suffer from blemishes due to excessive sebum, and oily substance on the skin, which brings on pimples. If the pimples grow big and bursts or the teenager manually bursts the pimples, it may leave a scar. Sometimes if a big pimple dries up it may leave a pigmented mark. All these are skin blemishes. Chicken pox can leave quite nasty scars as skin blemishes.

One of the important things to remember is prevention is better than cure. Learn to prevent your skin from getting acne or pimples. You cannot avoid blemishes from an attack of chicken pox. It's better to let a huge pimple dry up and create pigmentation, than to manually burst it and create a pock mark. Pigmentation is easier to deal with then big pock-like marks that look like craters on the moon!

So the first remedy is do not mess around with your pimples. If it does burst, quickly take a little cotton wool and soak it with after shave or cologne and dab it on the burst pimple. This will contract the pore and it does not leave a big open crater-like pore.

The next remedy is to ensure that your face is not oily. An oily face is a sign of an overactive sebum gland, which can clog up pores and create pimples and acne. Make sure your cleansing regiment includes washing your face with a good facial soap daily.

Another way to leave your face clean and non-oily is to use green gram or any gram flour with turmeric. These can be found in Indian Grocery shops. Mix the green gram flour plus the turmeric with some water into a paste. Apply the paste and lightly massage it on the face. Then wash off with slightly warm water and finally splash with cold water. The green gram or any gram flour will normalize an oily skin while the turmeric acts as an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory substance.

To get rid of blemishes you can apply raw potato juice to lighten the skin.

Once a week exfoliate with the gram flour and turmeric paste. This time leave it to dry. Once it's dry, scrub the dried paste lightly off your face and wash off, so that the blemished skin can be quickly replaced by new unblemished skin.

Adults too suffer from skin blemishes, which can be in the form of brown spots or other types of pigmentation. Here are some home remedies to get rid of these skin blemishes. The remedies given above can also be used by an adult.

The brown spots that appear when one is in the fifties are sometimes called liver spots or age spots. This is a sign to detoxify the liver. You can go on a liver detox by taking a mixture of 1 tablespoon olive oil plus 2 tablespoons pure lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of black-strap molasses in half a cup of water, to which you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Take this mixture for 10 days first thing in the morning. It gives the liver the required detoxification to prevent brown liver spots.

But whether you're young or old, water is the best home remedy there is. By drinking at least 8 glasses of water toxins can be flushed out from your body system and; you'll achieve a beautiful, smooth and glowing complexion. Imagine a drain that is not washed; it will soon clog and trap all kinds of rubbish. Similarly our internal drainage system can get clogged and trap a lot of toxins which can damage our health in the long run. So it's important to drink lots of water to be free of skin blemishes.
