Natural Home Remedies for ADHD

Your overactive kid can be calmed with the natural remedies available for ADHD. The main symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) include difficulty in focusing and lack of self control. Such kids may perform badly in school and find it difficult to get along with other kids. They often end up having difficulties at home as well. Various treatments are available; however, your kid needs to be officially diagnosed it before you start the treatment. Go to a doctor or physician and confirm the disease before you think of the treatment.

There are several medications available; however, its effectiveness mostly depends on the kids. Also, some parents are reluctant to use these medications fearing the side effects. Medications can also be good; however, side effects could be something which can't be avoided fully. There are numerous natural remedies available to treat ADHD effectively. We are going to get familiar some of them in this article.

First method is related to proper diet. A protein rich diet would be very helpful for your kid. Studies have revealed that protein has the ability to produce dopamine and norephrine. Both dopamine and norephrine are known for its ability to make a person more focused and concentrated.

Thus, we suggest you to follow a diet which is rich in proteins. Make sure that your child gets at least 30 grams of protein a day. Protein rich foods include diary products, eggs, soy milk and poultry. Fish also can be included since it has omega-3 fatty acids which are very good for concentration. Diet control is something which you can easily follow at home.

At times, food allergy can also worsen the situation of a kid who is affected by ADHD. Parents can watch for food items which trigger a change in the behavior pattern. Watch your kid's diet in this way for 2 weeks and remove those food items which you suspect as the source of trouble. This process should be continued until you are sure of the fact that his current diet does not have a bad influence on his behavioral pattern. According to the studies, the following food items generally cause allergy: milk, peanuts and egg.

Now, let's have a look at meditation, which is considered to be very effective. Transcendental meditation is considered to be helpful for your child to remain calm and less stressed. It will also help him for clear thinking. The biggest advantage of meditation is that you can do it anywhere. Researches show that following a 10 minute meditation session twice a day has helped most of the kids to stay away from the symptoms of ADHD.

The Institute for Community Enrichment and Abramson Family has funded a study on the positive effects of transcendental meditation on the ADHD afflicted kids. The study has revealed that those kids who did daily meditation for about 6 months have behaved almost like the normal kids who are not affected by ADHD. So, transcendental meditation is something we suggest if you are looking for a medication free treatment for your kid.
