Tulsi leaves are a nerve tonic and they help sharpen the memory. They help remove phlegm and other toxins from the bronchial tube for enhanced respiration. It helps in fever and common cold because the leaves boiled with tea act as a fighting agent against rainy season diseases like malaria and dengue. Holy basil is an important ingredient of many cough syrups and expectorants as it aids in mobilizing mucus in bronchitis and asthma. Water boiled with the leaves is a good drink for coughs and sinuses.

They are an anti-stress agent that, recent studies have shown, are very effective in reducing stress of studies and work for growing children and adults, respectively. The minty after taste is quite refreshing for some people; however if it makes you feel bad otherwise, simply rinse you mouth with cold water. Overall this plant makes you stay healthy and feel better because it helps your immune system get better.
Seeing its numerous advantages and popularity with people, scientists decided to use it in the form of supplementary doses as well.
