Many people believe in the idea that all foods that one eats will increase weight unless it is compensated for by means of exercise. They feel that even the healthiest of fruits and vegetables, with an optimum balance of nutrients and juice lead to weight gain. This is not a fact, but a myth. There are in fact, many kinds of food items that help you lose weight when eaten regularly. Does it sound like a fantasy? It is a well documented and established fact that eating certain foods that help you lose weight is the best dietary items to keep one healthy and toned.

One of the best foods that help you lose weight is eggs. Surprised? Eggs are full of healthy nutrients and even the yolk which is supposed to be full of fats is healthy for the body. Eating eggs in the morning instead of bagels and donuts keeps the body fulfilled and lessens the need to snack all the day long. Next on the list are sprouts and salads. Both of these items are very low on calories yet high on proteins. They are filling, can be eaten slightly in excess and are a perfect side dish to counter heavy breads laced with butter.

The next is beans. Beans are natural way to keep the appetite down during meals do that one does not crave snacks or alcohol. They are also high in fibre, which ensures that the body digests them well and not leave them in the digestive system. Green tea, along with being a wonderful herbal pick me up, also lowers the content of caffeine running through the body. This requires the body to burn more calories to stay alert and thereby helps in reducing weight.



The first appetizer in many courses, soup works great to keep the hunger down for the coming dishes. It prevents overeating and makes the body feel heavy or sleepy after eating. This means that one does not gorge on the food and consequently keeps the much hated 'holiday' weight down by a couple of pounds. Olive oil, considered being a healthier alternative to regular oil works great when used in regular cooking and as a salad dressing. It not only increases the metabolism but also allows the body to regulate its eating pattern and burn more calories.

Nuts are a great food to help you lose weight. They are known to have calories but they work well to prevent the body from craving high-calorie foods in between meals. Having tofu is a better option to have instead of cottage cheese and the like. Dressings such as vinegar are wonderful for burning the calories, especially in the stomach which makes pickles a great option for weight watchers. Other small foods that help you lose weight are pears, red peppers, leeks and high fibre cereals. While having these foods, it is best to take care of the fact that they can interfere with the body and to have them in proper quantities in a diet.
