Many men and women must have noticed that when they wear jeans, shorts etc., there is a section of the skin that sticks out right above the waistline. Even with a belt or a long top, these folds are very visible and can make it difficult to pull off certain fashions well. Generally known as a 'muffin-top' feature, these are called love handles as well. While the name sounds nice, they are an indication of growing fat deposits in the body and generally point towards being out of shape. Considering how important it has become to have a fit figure in today's times, it's no surprise that people want to know how to get rid of love handles fast.

Let's take a look at why love handles develop in the first place. The abdominal region is known to pile on weight rather quickly as compared to other regions of the body. When somebody who is comparatively fit starts to put on weight because of a nutritionally deficit diet and lessening exercise, it starts to show on the sides of the abdomen. These two causes of love handles hold the key as to how to get rid of love handles.

Since the first indicators of worsening or unhealthy eating habits are the love handles, the first step taken to get rid of love handles is to work upon one's diet. This requires one to look at what they eat every day and what causes the body to gain weight rapidly. Removing junk foods and snacking in between meals from the diet everyday can be difficult; however it is the best way to get rid of love handles while they are still very small. Other ways to work upon the diet is to talk to a nutritionist or a personal trainer about a healthier diet that can be followed with ease.



Another problem that causes love handles to emerge is the lack of exercise, even that of the simplest kinds. Many of us forsake walking, jogging, cycling and even a daily brisk walk in the park in favour of using other means of transport. This makes us further lazier each day and cuts down on our exercise completely. To get rid of love handles fast, medium amounts of exercise, preferably cardio-vascular workouts are very useful. Cardio-vascular exercise can be done easily in a gym, with a personal trainer or even at home. Jogging, swimming and sports like football and baseball promote cardio-vascular fitness and eventually get rid of love handles altogether.

Other abdomen targeting exercises are also very effective. Crunches are one of the best techniques for reducing and getting rid of love handles. They exercise the abdominal muscles completely and also help in the aspiration to develop a six pack muscled abdomen. It is best to avoid lunges, side bends, twists and knee-ups since they help very little in getting rid of love handles. However, one should always consult with a personal trainer of a gym coach before starting any regime of exercise and determine what is best for one's current state of health.
