Bronchitis is the condition in which, bronchial tube and the mucus membrane lining the bronchi, within the lungs get inflated due to some infection. Respiratory system of our body gets affected due to bronchitis. When infection spreads to the bronchi from nose and throat, then bronchitis is caused. There is a swelling and irritation in the mucus membrane lining the bronchi. Due to inflammation there is a leakage of fluids from the cells that makes mucus membrane lining. There are two categories of bronchitis - acute and chronic bronchitis. Bronchitis may spread from person to person through sneezing, coughing or using the things of an infected person. It is very contagious.
When infection is caused by, viruses which enter into bronchi then it results into acute bronchitis. Cold and fever are the common symptoms of the acute bronchitis. Usually it lasts for 10 days.
Chronic bronchitis is usually caused by inhaling the airborne pollutants, such as excessive dust in the air, chemicals and smoke. The most common cause of chronic bronchitis is excess cigarette smoking. Cough with mucus (sputum), trouble full breathing, restlessness, tightness feeling in the chest is the main symptoms of chronic bronchitis.
Bronchitis also attacks the person with a weak immunity system. If the bronchitis is caused by Mycoplasma pneumonia bacteria then it may result into walking pneumonia.
The initial stage of bronchitis is sinus infection and common cold. Some of the main symptoms of bronchitis are -
One of the main symptoms is wheezing. It is caused due to inflammation of the airways which results into short of breath.
Cough continuing for a long period. It may be dry but sometimes it produces phlegm which infects the lung and may cause pneumonia.
Sore throat, fever with chills, nasal congestion and muscle ache are some of the major symptoms.
Some of the natural treatments for bronchitis are -
Take quarter spoon of pepper, long pepper and ginger powder and mix it with honey. Take this mixture thrice a day.
Take half spoon of onion juice early in the morning daily. Onion is having the properties of expectorant.
Take a soup made by the leaves of drumstick.
Drink half glass of milk with half teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed in it.
In 250 ml of water add 50 ml of spinach. Add 1 spoon of honey and salt according to taste after boiling and cooling it.
