To prevent breast cancer, you should be careful of your diet and try to prevent yourself from coming in direct contact with toxins. Most of the cancers are caused due to harmful radiation or due to the intake of chemicals, which can cause the growth of abnormal cells in body.
Be aware of the symptoms: You should be aware of the methods of self diagnosis to prevent yourself from breast cancer. You can annually or one time in two years, go for mammogram screening to diagnose the problem. If somebody in your family suffers from breast cancer or somebody in blood relation suffered from the problem, you need to be extra cautious.
Nursing: If you are in reproductive age and you have kids, you are at a low risk. You can breastfeed the newborn to further reduce the risk.
Reduce intake of alcohol and do not smoke: Smoking is harmful for women's health as it can interfere in hormone production causing hormonal imbalance in the body. Alcohol is equally dangerous for women's health.
Do not gain weight: Women who are obese are at a high risk of getting the cancer because the fat stored in the body parts can release estrogen in women even after menopause and exposure to estrogen increases the risk.
Drink clean water: You should always drink fresh and filtered tap water. Water stored in plastic container can be unhealthy as plastic may leach toxins such as Bisphenol A, which can mimic body hormones to increase the risk of breast cancer. If the plastic bottles are kept in sun, it leaches more chemicals. Instead water stored in stainless steel bottles can be taken directly.
Use safe containers in microwave: Although many manufacturers of plastic containers claim that the container is safe in microwave, you should not keep the food in such containers, which is not absolutely safe. The food should not be exposed to Bisphenol A found in plastics as it has been linked to increased risk of cancer.
Take a balanced amount of soy: There are many plant products, which contain phyto -estrogen and it can be grouped in two isoflavones and lignans. Soy contains phyto-estrogen, which releases estrogen that resembles the estrogen of human body. Intake of food products containing phyto-estrogen is helpful in reducing the risk of breast cancer but excess intake of soy in adulthood can be risky.
Reduce the use of chemical cleansers: Chemical cleansers in household cleanings such as chlorine based cleaners can be harmful.
Use Stainless steel or cast iron based cookware: Cookware made from aluminum and antiperspirant containing aluminium, is harmful as it leaches out aluminum, which can damage the DNA structure of human beings. Cast iron based pans and utensils made from stainless steel are better for health.
Certain farm fishes may contain PCBs, which is can increase the risk of cancer. Canned fruits and vegetables are mostly stored in plastic bottles, can contain BPA and it should be avoided.
