Bowel disorders are common and affect a lot of people; though the intensity of each case depends from one person to another on various factors involved. Mostly, the root cause somewhere for all bowel diseases happens to be faulty eating patterns or diets. However, there can be other causes too which either individually or in combination cause the different kinds of bowel disorders.
IBS, also known as the Irritable Bowel Syndrome is one of the most common kinds of bowel disorders that affect people. Usually, children and others who do not bite and chew their food properly face constipation, which later on leads to IBS. The symptoms for this disease include bloating of the tummy with a lot of stomach discomfort. There is a lot of abdominal pain, but it is not centralised on any specific part or area. Some even suffer from the problem of diarrhoea. IBS is very common in people of the United States.
Another kind of bowel disorder is ulcers. Similar to sores - crater-like structures - ulcers cause pain which ranges from mild to severe, depending on the condition. There is a burning sensation along with a lot of pain and discomfort in the upper abdominal area. In some cases, patients feel relieved of stomach ache when they consume food; in others, the pain just gets worse. Other symptoms of this problem include nausea, weakness and fatigue, sudden weight loss, loss of appetite, and in some cases stool with blood. Vomiting also happens frequently. Blood in stool is a dangerous condition and it is advisable for patients to consult a doctor as soon as they notice this symptom.
Crohn's Disease is a kind of inflammatory bowel disorder that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract in the body. The problems faced by the patient under this disease include the regular factors such as vomiting, diarrhoea, weight loss, vomiting etc. along with severe abdominal pain. Another bowel disorder that happens due to inflammation is Colitis. However, unlike Crohn's Disease, the inflammation happens in the large intestine in Colitis. Tenesmus is the most common problem in Colitis. It refers to a condition where the patient has a constant urge to have a bowel movement. Other problems include fever, diarrhoea, blood in stool, and abdominal pain in waves.
Gastroenteritis is one of those bowel disorders that are caused by viral infection. It is a very common disease among people and leads to a condition where the intestines or the stomach lining suffer from inflammation. There are cramps in the abdominal area along with nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
The worst and the most dangerous type of bowel disorders is the colon cancer. It is a severe condition that can be caused by multiple bowel disorders, and a doctor's analysis is a must in this case. The common conditions under this include changes in bowel habits, tenesmus, black coloured stool, blood in stool along with increased mucus, and reduction in the diameter of stool. Timely check up for this disorder is very necessary.
