Boils are one of the most common things that many people suffer from, especially in summers when there is excessive heat and the body is constantly sweaty. Sportsmen, athletes, and those involved in various kinds of physical activities - even dancing - often suffer from boils.
The condition of a boil or a furuncle on the skin arises when there is inflammation of the hair follicles. This results in the accumulation of pus and dead tissues in a specific area on the surface of the skin which gets erupted. Sometimes the boils are too tender and burst away quickly under pressure, whereas other times they thicken and become stiff and hard over a period of time. The pus is created with a lot of white blood cells - which the body usually sends to the affected areas to kill the infection - along with bacteria. A carbuncle gets created when there are multiple heads created with the boils.
Areas of your body which are sweaty or where the body rubs against itself get boils frequently. The same also happens in parts of the body where the clothing catches tightly with the skin. This is one of the reasons why boils are really common the toes of people's feet, especially those of athletes, because their feet remain sweaty in the socks and shoes for a long time.
Boils can have several causes ranging from the kind of food you eat and the lifestyle you have to the kind of environment you live in. For one, boils can be caused when your blood becomes a little toxic due to faulty diets or a careless lifestyle. Too much junk food or a lifestyle where you are too stressed and are dependent on outside food causes the body balances to get spoilt which eventually leads to conditions that cause boils.
The staphylococcus germs that enter in your body via the sweat glands too are one of the major reasons for boils, and this is the reason why regular bathing and cleaning of the body is emphasised by health experts.
While primary boils as such do not lead to any kind of dangerous situation, sometimes the condition tends to get worse. At these times, the symptoms that you should consider include fever, more boils that may be appearing near the first one, some kind of discomfort and uneasiness in the body along with fatigue. In some cases, severe redness and inflammation develops near the boil.
For a natural treatment, you can try making a paste of turmeric powder along with some Holy Basil juice which provides instant relief when applied over the boils. Other pastes that give relief include that of cumin seeds with water or that of mustard seeds. It is advisable to coat betel leaf with castor oil and apply it over the affected area for 2-3 times a day.
On a general basis, keep the affected area of the body clean and let fresh air be in contact with the area, so that sweat does not accumulate.
